If you like water, you’ll like Monmouth Beach, New Jersey, with the Atlantic Ocean to the east ideal for swimming and fishing and the Shrewsbury River to the north and west ideal for fishing, sailing and kayaking. Surrounded by Sea Bright, Rumson and Long Branch, the one mile square town is the ideal combination of small town (3,619 people), and seashore resort.
The Monmouth Beach Association was formed in 1871 when the streets were laid out and they began to build homes, but it wasn’t officially chartered until March 9, 1906. The beautiful old Victorian homes and the new multi-million dollar homes create a lovely back drop to its four beaches that attract thousands of visitors to relax and have fun
A vast ocean beach replenishment project helped Monmouth Beach grow from a narrow strip of sand in the early 1990s, to a wide stretch of New Jersey shoreline. Area attractions in town and nearby offer fun for family and friends, including the racetrack.
Monmouth Beach, known for its old and beautiful Victorian homes, is just a mile square in area, and it has the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Shrewsbury River to the northwest. Surrounded by Sea Bright, Rumson and Long Branch, the trip to the ferry en route to New York is just a 1o-minute drive to the Atlantic Highlands. The Shrewsbury River is a great place for sailing, kayaking and fishing, and the ocean beaches are good for surfing.
